Miccostumes Shinobu Kocho Cosplay Review

In this post, I’ll be sharing my experience shopping at the online cosplay store, Miccostumes and reviewing the Shinobu Kocho cosplay I bought from them. Her Demon Slayer Corps uniform included the jacket, uniform top, hakama pants, leg coverings, belt, and hair accessory. My choice of this online store over others was based on their competitive prices, low shipping cost, positive reviews, and the qualities/details of the cosplay costume.

💜The uniform is super nice quality and fits perfectly. I debated on sizing and ended up buying it in a medium. I'm glad I did because the small would have been too tight. Here are my measurements and the sizing chart provided on the website so hopefully it can help anyone unsure about whether to size up or down:

🦋The haori jacket has Shinobu's beautiful and iconic butterfly wing pattern. The color is a white base that fades into a pastel cyan/mint green and pink gradient design. The matching leg coverings each have a white bow on the back. (The white bows are a little flimsy so I used double-sided tape to help keep them in place, I wish I had sewing skills so they could permanently stay that way.) The uniform top is black with white trimming around the collar and wrist cuffs that button. The front has 4 functional gold engraved buttons and also a faux breast pocket on the top left.
On the back, it has the Japanese word/kanji character for ‘Destroy’ largely written in white. It looks so dope! There are also shoulder pads sewed into the jacket to help make it look neat. The hakama pants are black, have an elastic waistband, stretchable fabric around the calves, belt loops, and deep pockets. The pants are super roomy and comfy. The white belt has one belt loop and a silver buckle. The butterfly hair accessory easily bends since it is made of a thin cardboard material so best to handle it gently. Mine did come a little bent at the bottom corners. The wings have a dark purple and green borderline and the inside of the wings have a butterfly pattern with a light multi-colored gradient.
🧼Another customer mentioned in their review that their cosplay had the smell of chemicals when they received it. In my case, the most accurate description is that it smelled strongly of chlorine. Maybe the smell is coming from sanitizing chemicals, but I'm not sure! I decided to have it machine washed to get rid of the smell even though the tab on the inside of the uniform top says no cleaning/no ironing/no everything. The information on the website says it's made of polyester material so I had it washed in cold water and detergent and then air-dried it. I also ironed the butterfly haori jacket, uniform top (sans the writing on the back), and pants. It all turned out to be fine but do any machine washing at your own risk!
🎃I placed my order during their Halloween sale and the total cost was $63.98. The cosplay was $52.99 and the shipping cost was $10.99. I selected basic economy shipping since it was the most affordable plus I did not need my cosplay right away. It was estimated that the shipment would be sent out by November 2nd and delivered between Nov 23-Nov 30.
📦I ended up contacting customer service when it came to being past the estimated delivery date since I also hadn't received a tracking number. I messaged them on December 1st asking if they could provide a status update on my order and they responded by December 3rd. They asked if I received my package yet and that they would resend a new one right away but it may take 10-20 days if I'm willing to wait. They said the other package was possibly lost by the carrier. I immediately accepted their offer of sending a new shipment out. I received an e-mail with the new order placed on December 5th and the tracking number on December 6th. And it got delivered on December 9th! Whoo-hoo!!
Sidenote: I learned the hard way to not enter my mobile number if I have to provide a telephone number, particularly if the company is located overseas. My phone ends up getting bombarded with an absurd amount of spam/scam calls.

Update that it was shipped on 11/1 and estimated delivery between 11/23-11/30
No update or tracking number so I contacted customer service on 12/1
New order was placed by customer service on 12/5
Tracking number received on 12/6
Delivered on 12/9
💯Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase! Shipping was standard and the customer service was prompt! The quality and cost of this cosplay is 5/5 stars.
